NEWS: CEDIA Discoveries—Revel Unveils Two High-Performance Subwoofers

At CEDIA Expo 2009 Revel announced not one but two new very performance subs: the Concerta B150 (which replaces the well-liked B15A) and the Rhythm 2, which takes its place as part of Revel’s flagship Ultima2 speaker line up.

The Concerta B150 features a1200-watt amplifier, a15-inch woofer with a 4-inch voice coil and a massive 36-pound motor structure capable of a whopping 1.5 inches of linear excursion. According to Revel Product Development Manager Kevin Voecks, a major design goal for the B150 was very high output with low distortion—and without the use of servos of any kind. Voecks says the B150 is capable of high output at less than .1% distortion. Final pricing for the B150 is not yet set, but should be around $4000.

Taking these same design concepts even further is Revel’s new Rhythm2 sub, which features an 18-inch woofer with dual voice coils together powered by a pair of power amps capable of a combined 2400 watts continuous output, while allowing 5600-watt peaks. Pricing for the Rhythm2 is not finalized, but is expected to fall around $10,000.

I think that your readers would be better served if you'd place a common object along the gear, so that we all get an idea about the gear's size. A can of Coke is usually quite good at providing sense of scale.
cNET is quite good at this. TAS errs on the cool but not very helpful side (with the pictures for the Torus/jlabs subwoofers being some of the worst I've seen in my life).
