Mark Your Calendars for the Moab Music Festival Sept. 3–14

Every once in a while, even an audiophile with top-grade equipment needs to get out and about and hear music live, if for nothing else, to remind himself of what his equipment is trying to re-create. Few places for a live-venue recharge can compete with Moab, Utah’s famous gathering of music greats now heading into its 17th year.

So think about a 40-minute boat trip down the snaking Colorado River, and then a music grotto venue in some of the most beautiful outdoor natural scenery the U.S. has to offer. From Schubert’s Trout Quintet to Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto to French favorites such as Poluenc, Camille Saint-Saens, and Erik Satie, to Cuban Jazz with Chuchito and his Quartet and Jorge-Luis Prats.

Also available, a three-day raft trip with “floating” musicians.
