Lycan Audio Announces Release of the Ulric Subwoofer

January 23, 2012, La Quinta, California - Lycan Audio is proud to announce the release of the “Ulric” subwoofer. This subwoofer is a cost-no-object approach to designing the finest subwoofer possible. Weighing in at 712 pounds, this subwoofer exhibits fierce dynamics, unlimited resolution and extension down to 9hz with zero cabinet energy at 110db+ levels.

The enclosure is sealed and made with layers of Baltic birch with side walls ranging from 4.5” thick to 10.5” thick. Utilizing our special internal rear wave diffusor, this is our most extreme attempt at creating a completely inherit enclosure with zero energy storage. The internal walls are CNC routed to create a semi-oval like shape to eliminate standing waves, while the internal diffusor helps us control harmonic information and also assists with controlling standing waves. The front baffle is made of solid aluminum that is CNC routed and clamped using massive stainless-steel parts and bolts then finished in a beautiful matte black finish.

Utilizing our 18” custom “Dynamic Driver “ this 90 pound driver is capable of delivering SPL levels over 120db's with incredibly low T.H.D. and zero coloration. Featuring over 3 inches of peak to peak travel, massive spider system, 615oz motor system and a stainless-steel voice-coil, this driver will deliver the most transparent bass you ever thought possible. Each Ulric comes with a custom full-range ASP-1000 ice power amp to drive and custom amp users will also love to know that the “Ulric” has a very sensitive 90.1db sensitivity at 4ohms and can even be driven with high powered tube amps if the customer wishes. As always, all drivers are broken in before shipping so the subwoofer is ready to enjoy out of the crate.
