iBiquity’s HD Radio Making Inroads Around the World

At the Hong Kong Consumer Electronics Fair, iBiquity Digital Corp., creator and advocate of digital HD Radio, announced that with the addition of the three latest companies (A-MAX Technology, EnGIS Technologies, and Harbor Light Technology), iBiquity has now licensed more than 140 companies to develop HD Radio receiver components and products. iBiquity also announced that 23 factories now offer HD Radio production capabilities, which marks exponential growth from 3 in 2005 and 8 in 2006.
The companies now including HD Radio as part of their product focus reside in Europe, Asia, and the U.S., making the potential reach of HD Radio fully international.
Some interesting data points about HD Radio:
•    The only “digital” broadcast system approved by the FCC for AM and FM in the U.S.
•    HD Radio technology now being used by 2,000-plus stations
•    Nearly 100 unique HD Radio products are available in some 14,000 retail outlets in the U.S.
•    Thirteen auto brands have committed to installing HD Radio in their models, including Audi, BMW, Ford, Hyundai, Jaguar, and Volvo.
