If you’re using VGA monitors for movie viewing, and many folks are in today’s computer-everywhere environment, Gefen, a company specializing in A/V connectivity, has just shipped two products that will allow you to send your video signal wirelessly from 30 up to 100 feet. That’s a nice way to get rid of cabling messes.
The GefenTV Wireless VGA LR (the longer range extender at 100 feet), sells for $600, and the GefenTV Wireless VGA SR (for distances up to 30 feet) sells for $500. What you get is the ability to send a 1280x1024/1080i high-def signal with analog audio wirelessly from VGA, S-Video, Composite, or Component sources. The extender doesn’t require line-of-sight transmission; instead it uses three small antennas on its sender and receiver units and provides easy, plug-and-play connectivity.
