Electrocompaniet of Norway Announces Wholly Owned U.S. Subsidiary

The Norwegian high-end audio electronics manufacturer Electrocompaniet first came to the attention of American audiophiles in the mid-1970s through the release of a seemingly modest yet sonically superb 25Wpc amplifier designed by the brilliant Dr. Matti Otala. Ever since, the firm has enjoyed a reputation for innovative engineering that always puts sound quality—as opposed to unbridled “specsmanship”—first.

According to a company press release, the firm has grown “by more than 200%” in recent years, so the time was right to create a wholly owned U.S. subsidiary, called Electrocompaniet Inc. The new U.S. firm will handle distribution of Electrocompaniet products in the U.S. and Canada.

Heading Electrocompaniet’s new U.S. arm will be Peder Beckman, who brings 20+ years of high-end audio experience and know-how to the job. Prior to taking the helm at Electrocompaniet Inc., Beckman worked with companies such as Ultralink/XLO, Goldmund, Elite Audio Video Distribution, and Musical Surroundings.
