Lexington, KY-based ELAN Home Systems, a company that focuses on multi-room A/V and home control systems, has produced a line of speakers for in-wall and in-ceiling installation aimed at home-theater enthusiasts. The Elios line is comprised of 19 speaker models ranging in price from $200 to $1,500 a pair. The speakers have undergone thorough pre-release testing by a range of dealers, which led one tester, Buttons Clark, a 27-year-pro based in Chesapeake, VA, to say that “the bass was powerful and tight, the mid and high-mids had a very pleasing warmth, [and] the highs literally sparkled [in] over a week of testing.”
The “secret sauce,” according to ELAN, has to do with a “new hybrid tweeter design that bonds a titanium/aluminum nano coating to a teteron dome substrate delivering the high frequencies, precision, speed and transient response of metal tweeters with the desirable smooth and silky sound of soft dome tweeters.”
