Danish Transducer Company Scan-Speak to Rejoin Tymphany Denmark

It seems like only a few months ago—and it was, Jan. 16, 2009, to be exact—that Jan Nielsen made an announcement to customers of Danish OEM transducer designer Tymphany Denmark that Scan-Speak, formerly a brand under Tymphany, was forming a new separate corporation with him as managing director and CEO and with said corporation to be located in Videbaek, Denmark, where Scan-Speak product designers and engineers had traditionally been practicing their craft since 1970. That separate corporation will apparently be short-lived according to a press release of April 9 announcing that Tymphany Denmark A/S has entered into an agreement with “present management” to acquire Scan-Speak A/S. With the change-back expected to be completed by the end of April, Nielson will still carry the title of managing director, this time of Tymphany, and will be a shareholder of Scan-Speak.

What’s it all mean? It means that Scan-Speak, which has been designing and manufacturing tranducers for high-end audio for some 40 years will continue its highly respected work and Tymphany Denmark will continue to be associated with Scan-Speak’s quality products.

Scan-Speak’s product line comprises OEM tweeters, midrange drivers, woofers, subwoofers, and passive radiators marketed under the Classic, Revelator, and Illuminator lines. These products find their way into upper-end models of some of the most recognizable speakers in high-end audiophile circles.
