According to a company press release, Cue Acoustics, a relatively young American audio company, is introducing the r1—an AM/FM table radio with an integrated universal dock for the iPod/iPhone—and the s1, an optional satellite speaker for stereo listening.
The release says that the r1 ($400) sports a retro-modern vibe, combining an AM/FM tuner and a universal charging iPod dock. The r1 has received full “made for iPhone” authentication, which provides complete “plug and play” capability and ensures that if the iPhone receives a call while docked, it won’t cause any radio static. The r1 has a built-in 4x25-watt class D amplifier and a 3 ½-inch-high excursion driver and ¾-inch silk dome tweeter. For added versatility, the r1 has a 3.5mm AUX input. The addition of the s1 satellite speaker ($100) provides proper separation between left and right speakers for optimal stereo imaging—something single-box systems simply can’t do.
