July 24, 2012 - Baetis Audio, maker of the Baetis Revolution™ Media Server, is pleased to announce 3 important upgrades to its flagship model audiophile computer. The Baetis server is the most complete media server out there, with the ability to rip, store, and bit-stream (without DSP) more types of media, including blu-ray movies and concerts, than any other server. And the Baetis does these jobs while i) remaining as silent as fan-less music computers, and ii) providing highest quality audiophile streaming such as through our BNC-coaxial digital S/PDIF outputs.
In our correspondence with clients and industry experts we have been asked to provide a more elegant solution to galvanic isolation of our S/PDIF outputs. Previously, our computers solved this problem, if it existed for a particular audio system, via the use of highest quality external isolation transformers. Now, we incorporate a Pulse™ isolation transformer within the case of the computer via an in-line connection to our critical S/PDIF BNC-to-BNC or BNC-to-RCA outputs to the client’s high-end DAC or pre/pro. While only a small percentage of high-end systems might experience a ground-loop hum (such as with DACs that do not have balanced analog outputs) we have eliminated even this small likelihood.
Also, we continually search for other improvements to the components in our servers. We are now utilizing a blu-ray optical drive (for ripping blu-ray discs) that is small enough to fit in our small form cases, while providing ripping speeds for CDs and blu-ray discs that are up to twice the speeds of our earlier drive, with no loss in accuracy whatsoever.
Finally, we are now providing as our base external hard drive, a Seagate USB3.0 HD -- a 1.5T capacity drive that is ultra-portable and completely silent. This external drive is in addition to our 128G standard internal SSD that is used for the operating system, the JRiver Media Center software, and for ripping perfectly accurate blu-ray discs. Our server has 6 USB inputs in the rear (2 of them USB3.0) for up to 12.5T of directly-attached, silent external storage, without daisy-chaining, plus unlimited storage via Network Attached Storage (NAS). Of course, we do not condone illegal ripping of media, nor do we ship our servers with unlicensed decryption software. Our website – www.baetisaudio.com – contains volumes of material on our servers, why we build them, and the advantages they offer over other media servers.
John Mingo, Baetis Audio managing director, says “Any high-end audio company worth its salt will continue to research its core competence – in our case, the perfect bit-streaming of every type of media. So, look for more of these announcements as time goes on. Also, we can retro-fit any of our earlier servers with these improvements at cost.”
