AVguide.com Announces New Forum Policy

Since their inception many years ago, AVguide.com forums have followed a policy where interested parties could participate in forums without registering as members of the site.

The intent of this policy was to foster openness and increase forum participation, but one unintended consequence is that our forums have unfortunately become attractive targets for spammers.

Over the past several months, problems with spam have gotten progressively worse, and have proven difficult to solve despite our best efforts to apply various high-tech spam filters.

Given the severity of the spam problem and our desire to put our readers and forum participants first, AVguide.com has elected to modify its forum policy, with changes that will take effect on Thursday, 6/3/2010. We think forum users will appreciate the results.

When I try to register as an AV guide site member, it denies me access to that page, and I am a GEC member.
