Starlight Series Delivers Cinema-Like Performance and Quiet Operation with Versatile Features and Custom Colors

Champlain, NY – April 26, 2010 — Audio Plus Services, a leading North American importer/distributor of premium products for the audio, video and home theater markets, announced two new HD projectors from Dream Vision: Starlight1 ($6995 MSRP) and Starlight2 ($9495 MSRP). These new high performance models integrate many of the latest video technologies such as 1080p resolution (1920x1080 3-LCOS engine), integrated 2.35:1 cinemascope mode and HDMI 1.3 connections. Starlight1 and Starlight2 are available for immediate delivery.

Raising the standards of picture quality, the new three-chip system, utilized on the Starlight1 and Starlight2, features a trio of 1080p Full-HD panels at a native resolution of 1920x1080 pixels. Using the latest technological innovations, DreamVision has achieved an impressive 32,000:1 (Starlight1) and 50,000:1 (Starlight2) contrast ratio through an improved light engine. This is approximately twice the amount of DreamVision’s previous generation of HD projectors.

In addition to superb clarity and detail, the Starlight Series also delivers more accurate color reproduction within billion color graduations for lifelike realism.

The Crystal Motion ® algorithm is a frame interpolation method which brings an immersive experience to sport, concerts, TV shows. The picture becomes dramatically realistic and three-dimensional, without motion blur or artifacts.

Naturally, the Starlight Series are not dedicated to watching singers or sporting events alone. Thanks to a new very pure optical lens, the Starlight Series creates a new standard in dark color rendition. When watching a movie, black is really black, with much more detail. Starlight2 has been specially engineered this way and implements DreamVision’s new True Cinema Black ® enhancement.

A powerful program with 2.35:1 Theater Mode

While the Starlight is a turn-key, single-box solution, it is also available with the DreamVision’s optional Wide System or 2.35:1Theater System kits  that will satisfy the most demanding installations. By featuring a true Cinemascope projection (2.35:1 to 2.40:1 native aspect ratio), the user can simply switch between HDTV and Cinemascope with the touch of a button.

Starlight1 comes with 8 preset Picture Modes that the installer or user can modify according to their preference. On Starlight2, a ninth Picture Mode has been added and optimized for movie watching in a dedicated dark cinema room. An Expert Calibration Menu (via RS232) and CMS functions (Color Management System for color calibration) are accessible for advanced installers of Starlight2.

The built-in video processor is powered by HQV technologies, featuring the latest video quality enhancements to make any video source, from 480i to 1080p, look like pristine Full-HD native resolution.

Key features of this processor are:

  • Digital noise reduction.
  • Mosquito noise reduction.
  • Color transition improvement.
  • Detail enhancement.
  • Automatic Film and Video mode detection.
  • Color Management System for color calibration (Starlight2).

Versatility and Ease of Installation

In addition to its impressive performance, the Starlight projectors are also a snap to install. The input panel, concealed on the side of the projector, offers quick access to a wide array of connections. The 2X zoom, combined with a variable electronic lens aperture, allows for perfect adjustment in virtually any residential installation. With a new fully motorized professional lens, the installation becomes even easier and faster.

The Starlight Series will accommodate virtually any kind of setup thanks to the -80/+80% vertical shift and the -34/+34% horizontal shift, seconded by the crisp, high quality Keystone. In essence, the vertical and horizontal lens shift can solve any challenging configuration.

Starlight’s Design Also Shines

The projector’s ultra-stylish chassis was created by the famed French designer, Antoine Beon, also known in home theater for his design work with DreamBee and Focal. A contemporary work of art, Starlight comes standard in black or white and is available to order in a rainbow of high gloss colors to suit any fine interior. Custom colors are additional in cost and require 60-day lead time.
